Dentistry Workshop
Develop your dentistry skills and gain greater confidence in identifying and treating dental cases in your practice. Our 3-days workshop includes a strong practical component with a large portion of the day spent practicing newly developed skills.
Infinita and Dr. Ana Nemec invite you to participate in an international dentistry workshop to enhance your dentistry skills.
The workshop is dedicated to the treatment options and prophylaxis in periodontal disease. The course will start with basic oral and dental anatomy, necessary equipment, dental chart, dental nerve blocks, X-Ray and etc. We will pay special attention to most common problems – dental extractions and periodontal disease. Dental extractions will cover indications, contraindications, simple extraction, surgical extraction, complications of dental extractions, perioperative care of the dental patient, oral home care and X-Ray. Periodontal disease is the number one clinical problem in dogs and cats.
Dr. Ana Nemec
Ana Nemec is a veterinary dentistry specialist in Slovenia, working mostly with dogs and cats. Oral and dental diseases are among the most common diseases.
Ana Nemec graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2004. She continued with a multi-disciplinary PhD program in Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana, focusing on research in the systemic effects of periodontal disease. She was awarded her PhD in 2009, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Zlatko Pavlica. Between 2004 and 2009 Ana was working as a veterinarian at the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty, University of Ljubljana.
In 2012 she completed her 3-year residency training in Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the University of California-Davis, USA, under the mentorship of Prof. Frank Verstraete. Ana passed her Board examination and became a Diplomate of American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) in 2013 and has also been accepted to the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC).
Ana Nemec has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Veterinary Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia since 2012. In 2018 Ana was a veterinary specialist at Animal Hospital Postojna, Slovenia. In 2019 she returned to the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty, and launched also her consultancy company in veterinary dentistry. In addition to her clinical, research and teaching commitments, Ana also serves as a coordinator of International mobility at the Veterinary Faculty and a coordinator of the Small Animal Rotating Internship at the Small Animal Clinic.
She has also been appointed as a Credential Committee member and Resident Education Committee of the AVDC, VOHC Council Member and WSAVA Dental Guidelines Committee member. Ana is also a member of the European Veterinary Dental Society. She has received several national and international awards in veterinary medicine, she is an Associate Editor of the journal Veterinary Dentistry and Oromaxillofacial Surgery, a reviewer in several international journals, and author of research and professional papers. Her main research interests are oral biology and oncology. She is also a keen speaker and a passionate teacher.
